Punto 2002

The good thing is that I was introduced to three new Auto workshops and made few good deals later with them .
The problem was  eventually revealed , The dump file I had belonged to a different BCM model, I think it was 2003 or so, and things started to get better when I wrote 2002 dump into the eeprom. the problem with the air conditioner was a coincidence I believe, but the problems of the speedometer was resolved, and now it gives accurate reading again. the only problem that was left is the one with the engine , it keeps cutting as if it's not working with all injection units. Once more I used the commander to flash the ecu, and went to our new friend in a fiat workshop, who used his diagnostic device to "re calibrate" the ecu, and this got things going finally. you should see the look of relief on the owner's face, not to mention, what I felt deep in my heart .
What really surprised me was when the workshop manager diagnosed the car .. but this is another story ..

Fiat Punto 2002

Fiat Punto 2002

This happened last year, in April or May 2012

Careful doesn't defeat Fate .. The Owner is a nice man, he came asking for a spare key, and he literally said, "Does it involve any risk? Will there be any problems? a friend of mine had to replace the ECU and Ignition system for this "
Well, of course I assured him there are no problems, "what risk would we face? If there are risks no one would be in the business . "
I wasn't exaggerating, everyone knows this work should be a piece of cake!

By that time I had Tango to code the transponders and extract the pin-code, then program them directly to the car.
So I asked the Owner to come back after an hour, and I had to take off the BCM, and starting working on the cute little sweet Eeprom. which of course got broken while de-soldering.
!
!
You can imagine what I tried by then, at least extract the file! no use to say anything now, we have to figure out a solution. The owner called, and I asked for more time , he began to worry of course.
I contacted my partner, for any dump files he got for a fiat 2002 BCM, I also contacted some friend near me, who, fortunately provided me an eeprom from another BCM,
OK I used the other eeprom, and well, I knew I'll need to program something here or there, but I tried and turned on the car with the spare keys and thought my problems were solved, but now .
There was a problem with the car, several problems actually,
First, the engine wasn't running smoothly, it's like not all injection units are functioning, now I don't have that much experience with mechanics, I can't tell what this problem is, but anyway, we took the car to some specialist to check it, another problem was that the speedometer doesn't display the correct speed, the car engine cuts all the time, and.. the air conditioner is not functioning properly !
three days, I spent three days with this car, trying everything I can. I had my Commander upgraded with engine re-tuning for fiat cars, ECU flashing to be accurate.

Toyota lesson!!

old post two years ago

Now this is something to blog!
I was working on a Toyota corolla yesterday, car won't start, I didn't get a chance to get more details, as it was a quick job, anyway all went good, car is working, and owner didn't pay 1/4 what I asked, no problem so far, I'm used to this kind of customers who persuade me that the key was damaged because of me at the first place! .. one thing about this corolla, is that I didn't feel like the problem is with the key... but I was happy when it worked ...

Toyota Corolla, 2000, 4C key, programmed from immobiliser(8 bit)

-------------------
Alright it's about today,.. today came a Toyota Hilux, all keys lost, the owner left the car early at my key shop, and I began working, first I looked for a 16 pin OBD, but I didn't see it, looked for an immobiliser and again I couldn't see one, simply because this was the first Hilux.. I don't know where those would exist, and, somehow I wanted things to be different with this car, it's not a land cruiser, then the immo shouldn't be at the same location thats what I thought !!!

So I kept searching til I found the ecu .. and here began the story, I got myself in a real mess!
trying to virgin the ecu, look for the immo.. with no hope
until finally I thought of looking for the immo under the radio. found it, programmed it using zedbull, car started .. it didn't take more than 30 minutes .. but I spent more than 4 hours in vain.
experience, is VERY important. you never learn the easy way.
